We discuss this year's OutShineFilm Festival - going on NOW-and what it means to the community, running for 24 years in Miami and 13 years in Fort Lauderdale. Mark talks about how the festivals have evolved, what you can expect this year and how they've adapted during these Covid times. Denise and Mark reminisce a bit about how Mark gave Denise her start as a presenter over 20 years ago on an FM dance music station Party 93.1 when it was unheard of for a gay radio talk show to be on your radio. Now that venues are re-opening, she's back to singing and still selling real estate! Such an inspiration- wait until you hear about how she weaves philanthropy through her music, doing all kinds of fundraisers also, her journey with her husband, Jozay is really special. Denise brings a load of snacks to the table to compare notes and the two try Frazzles, and give them a thumbs down. Her debut novel “The Split” has been described as like “meeting Marian Keyes and Dawn O’Porter in a gay bar in Sheffield.” Laura tells us about writing it: “I wanted to write about a friendship between a queer woman and a queer man, and it was just a joy.” She also talks about how Sheffield is the worst place to run “crazy hilly and cold!”, and how she could never live on a houseboat.
Clare also does a run-down of the Amazon Lesbian Fiction charts in the US & UK, as well as updating you on the latest news from lesfic world.
