JD and Denise welcome Martha Moxon, a young singing-songwriting sensation from Birmingham, England. She's the daughter of Lucy and Mandy Burton of the British band "Eeek", and Denise met Martha when she was only seven years old. She's now pushing the ripe old age of 17 and in University, but oh what success she's had already! She was on "The Voice UK Kids" just a few short years ago and got all the way to the finals and now she's writing and creating music of her own in her unique style. We caught up with Martha this week to have a chat and hear her new song "Call Me", which you can listen to on SoundCloud at Martha Moxon Music. We discuss this year's OutShineFilm Festival - going on NOW-and what it means to the community, running for 24 years in Miami and 13 years in Fort Lauderdale. Mark talks about how the festivals have evolved, what you can expect this year and how they've adapted during these Covid times. Denise and Mark reminisce a bit about how Mark gave Denise her start as a presenter over 20 years ago on an FM dance music station Party 93.1 when it was unheard of for a gay radio talk show to be on your radio. Her debut novel “The Split” has been described as like “meeting Marian Keyes and Dawn O’Porter in a gay bar in Sheffield.” Laura tells us about writing it: “I wanted to write about a friendship between a queer woman and a queer man, and it was just a joy.” She also talks about how Sheffield is the worst place to run “crazy hilly and cold!”, and how she could never live on a houseboat.
