The Whiskey Rock Lounge- Ep. 27 -Do Some Good - Introducing Bianca's Kids

JD and Denise have some cocktails (Coffee with Coffee Infused Vodka, and a classic Whiskey Sour) tonight while Denise introduces her friend of over 30 years, Debbie Savigliano, the founder of Bianca's Kids, a 501c3 Non-Profit Charity Organization out of New Jersey that grants wishes to families and children in need. Debbie shares the story behind starting the organization after losing her 21 year old niece, Bianca, who was struck and killed by a car as she walked to work at a daycare center early one August morning. Debbie shifted her grief into creating Bianca's Kids to honor her niece and the results have been incredible as the group has now granted over 30,000 wishes for kids all over the country and continues to do good with donations in all forms from time and goods to checks. JD has a little Mount Gay Rum and coke while Denise indulges in a craft brew from Tiny Rebel Brewery called Stay Puft, a marshmallow porter. The ladies share some good news that Denise received and then they have an interesting chat with Marjorie Waldo, the CEO of Arts Garage, a fantastic venue in Delray Beach, Florida where all kinds of music, performers, and artists are welcomed. Marjorie discusses the Covid safety guidelines they've put in place, the acts they've had and the new Garage Kweens show they are putting on in April, how to buy tickets for shows or be a donor. On this show Denise has "FireBall" whiskey and JD has Absolute (the Pride Edition!) with Peach Schnapps all to honor their guest Lori Michaels! Lori is a NJ native with an extensive recording career, songwriter, guest on Real Housewives of New Jersey, and now she runs a dance and fitness studio while still songwriting, singing, and teaching voice lessons. In a hilarious discussion of high school hijinks, we learn JD was a bit of a nerd, because of Clara (listen and learn) and Denise tells how you could spend a mere six bucks and buy a Valentine's date in high school with a carnation and a box of donuts. Denise and JD welcome back Tyler the Magnificent Mixologist from Memphis (we named him that, poor guy) who's got quite an impressive cocktail he's created for Valentine's Day, based a few of his girlfriend's favorite things including a rose pedal frozen into the ice cube (how adorable is he?!) Denise is drinking Rock Top Apple Pie Arkansas Lightning whiskey liquer and JD goes for a bit of Goldschlager! The gang has some laughs over answering Denise's question: "What drink did you get sick on when you were younger and still can't drink today?" - Super fun show and plenty of time to practice this cocktail and impress your sweetie next week!
